After leaving his pre-med studies at the University of Vermont, Eric moved to California to attend culinary school in San Francisco. Working in a downtown restaurant and attending school full time gave Eric a great foundation for his cooking career. In the late 1980’s, the need to be back on the East Coast was once again important, so a position at The Inn at Little Washington was accepted, a position he held for 2 1/2 years. After opening the Bleu Rock Inn and a stint at the Ashby Inn , Eric moved to Charlottesville, where he started "Eric Stamer Catering". A day trip in 1995 to Staunton convinced him that Staunton was where he wanted to settle. As well as being a full service caterer, Eric Stamer Catering is the home of the famous Wednesday Night Supper Club.
